Our Impact

Evaluating our efforts to ensure BulletPoints meets the needs of clinicians and educators

BulletPoints has reached thousands of clinicians and other learners, significantly improving their knowledge and confidence in addressing firearm injury risk among patients.

To evaluate the impact of the BulletPoints curriculum, we measure the reach of our activities, including our website, live presentations and trainings, online resources, and social media. We also survey learners before and after completing a BulletPoints course or training to assess changes in their knowledge, attitudes, perceived self-efficacy, and intent to change their practice. These evaluation data have helped us refine our curricular content and dissemination methods over time to better meet the diverse needs of clinicians and educators across disciplines and settings.

Our Reach

Since its inception in 2019, BulletPoints has reached thousands of people across the country and world, including:

  • 185,000+ people who have visited our website
  • 2,500+ people who have attended our live presentations and trainings
  • 8,500+ people who have watched our online webinars and explainer videos
  • 1,200+ people who have completed our free, online continuing education course

These statistics reflect only a fraction of those impacted by our work. Every clinician, educator, or student we train in firearm injury prevention brings life-saving knowledge back to their communities and the many people they serve. We also share knowledge and resources through news stories, social media, and scientific publications, extending our reach even further.

Our Impact on Knowledge and Practices

Learners value our presentations and training courses:

  • 88% say they learned a lot
  • 86% find the content very useful
  • 93% report being likely or very likely to change their clinical practices around firearm injury prevention

Evaluations show that our presentations and continuing education course significantly improve learners’ knowledge of firearm injury risk and appropriate interventions and their perceived self-efficacy.

After attending these trainings:

  • 85% feel confident or very confident in identifying patients at increased risk of firearm injury
  • 82% feel prepared or very prepared to speak with patients or their caregivers about firearms

That’s more than double the percent of learners who felt confident and prepared before the training.
